Parmann House was built in 1999 and was named after the author Øistein Parmann. Øistein Parmann was an  art historian and government fellow. In addition to his literary work, Parmann was actively involved in the Steiner movement, as a teacher in Oslo for eight years, through several cultural debates in the 1950s, as the initiator of the Steiner School in Nesodden, and as a leader of the Camphill movement's representative body in Norway 1970-80.
